Spellboundnails.com will now redirect you to the new website so come check us out.

Did I mention we open with 5 new creme collections and 2 new holographic toppers!!! So many polishes, so little time so forgive me while I spam you with nail polish pics ... lots more after the break so keep reading. :)

The Darks are deep, dark cremes perfect for any Spellbounder. Based around witchcraft and magic ... whether real or make believe.

May Charity Polish

Hello all! Another month and another charity polish is making its debut in my Etsy and Storenvy shops.

This is Today for Tomorrow, done in the colors fun and playful colors of The Tomorrow Fund. It has a creamy white base filled with hexes of red, green, yellow, and blue as well as yellow dots and what children's polish would be complete without some adorable Mickey shaped glitter??

I have developed an insane love of taking bottle shots like this with the cap off and laying in the photo.

The Tomorrow Fund is the only non-profit organization that provides daily financial and emotional support to children with cancer and their families who are treated at Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island.

As always $2 of every bottle sold (both full size and mini) will be donated to the charity the first of the next month. In this case, a donation will be made to The Tomorrow Fund June 1st. Keep an eye on my Facebook Page for a screenshot of the donation to see how much money we raised!!

For those waiting on the screenshot for April's charity a donation will be made later today and a screenshot posted immediately after. :)

Vintage Valentine Nail Art

Woohoo, more V-Day nail art! Today's mani is by far one of my all time favorites. I just love vintage-y nail art for Valentine's Day... anytime really. This mani is just so simple but still so elegant. :)

This mani was done with polishes from my Valentine's Day collection (Victorian Romance) and a little help from Born Pretty Store rose decals. I started with a base of My Own Sweet Valentine with an accent nail of Parchment & Lace. Once MOSV was dry I sponged on some Cheeks Tinted Red and a little more MOSV to really blend it together. The shimmer on this gradient was insane! I used top coat on Parchment and Lace and then used a Born Pretty Store water decal. (These decals are only $0.88 right now! Plus if you use the code BPS2014 you'll get 15% off sitewide! I say these are more than worth every penny!!!)

The decal was so easy to use. Just cut it out, dunk it into water (warm water if it's winter) for 10-15 seconds and the decal will slip right off the paper and be easy to position on your nail. I lightly wet the nail and placed the rose. I used a paper towel to blot the excess water and then gently used a finger to press the decal down, getting rid of wrinkles and bubbles until the decal dried completely. Then I topped it with more top coat and it was perfect!!

I couldn't resist trying the glitter of Love & Devotion over the gradient. It's nice, but I found I preferred the simplicity of the gradient alone.

What's your go-to nail art for Valentine's Day?

Spellbound Nails does Valentine's Day with the Victorian Romance Collection (PIC HEAVY)

Hello lovelies! I bring you Valentine's Day polishes!! Being a polish maker means I have to be thinking much further into the future than I ever wanted to ... I sometimes forget what month it is lol.

But right now I know it's January but when speaking in terms of mixing and shipping polish, Valentine's Day is just around the corner. So take a moment and look at the pretties!!

This collection will be available for pre-sales 1/10 - 1/17. This means you'll be able to buy this collection in full and mini bottles (at pre-sale discount prices) starting tomorrow. The full release, meaning the ability to buy singular bottles, will start 1/22. As always, you can buy all Spellbound Nails polishes from my Etsy shop or my Storenvy shop.

I love having some kind of inspiration for my collections; not only do my polishes turn out better but I love being able to point to something and say "look, look, that right there - that inspired me so much that I had to make something awesome!"

Vintage Valentine © Victorian Traditions
This time, that inspiration came from the old timey Victorian Valentine's Day cards and postcards. You know those ones that are all yellowing parchment, lace, and soft and bright watercolors.

First up is Cheeks Tinted Red. This is a stunning bright red holographic.

This polish has double the amount of holo that I put in my normal holos however I quickly found red eats holo. It adds a lot of depth and shimmer and has more of a lightly scattered holo effect.

And a close up of the bottle in the little amount of sunlight we're getting around here right now.

*There has been a slight increase in the pricing of my holographics. I have started buying a much better holographic pigment, however this does mean an increase in price for me which I sadly have to pass on to you. Holographic polishes using this new pigment will now sell for $9 in my shops. Prices will change on already released holos (only those using this new pigment) February 1st. This was a very hard decision for me since I pride myself on being affordable, and I believe I have managed to keep to my brand even with the price increase.

Next up is Parchment and Lace. This was the base of this collection - the very first polish mixed up and the one everything else was built around. I think the name of this one says it all. It's everything this collection was inspired by. Yellowing parchment, lace, and beautiful watercolors.

I've been told that this is a very flexible polish and would also work well for Easter and summer too.

This is the only glitter topper of the collection. Love & Devotion is a wonderfully romantic glitter in my opinion with it's white, pink and red glitter with lots of rainbow shimmer.

I'm All Aflutter is a gorgeous baby blue with purple and pastel pink glitter.

And last but not least is My Own Sweet Valentine. This is a girly, pearly pink with a delicate golden shimmer that acts almost duo-chrome-y in person.

Did I mention My Own Sweet Valentine also glows in the dark?? There are three different glow pigments hidden behind this girly pink - blue, green, and peach. Together they combine to glow an icy white with just a hint of blue and green. The blue and green show up a lot better in pictures. In person it really is an icy white with just a hint of blue and green. And with so much glow pigment the glow is pretty insane!

You can see a few hints and specks of the peach glow in this picture along with the blue and green. This is a picture of Love & Devotion over My Own Sweet Valentine.

I hope you enjoy these polishes as much as I do and remember pre-sales start tomorrow! :)

Until next time,
- Ashley

Glitter Mix Boutique: Part 4

*All products were sent to me for testing and review, completely complimentary, from Glitter Mix Boutique. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Welcome to Part 4 of my review of the Glitter Mix Boutique's glitter mixes. This is the one I've been most excited to share. This is my favorite, favorite glitter mix of the glitters I received for this review.

You saw Rainbow Graffiti in Part 1 now see why I love it so much!

Rainbow Graffiti has every color of the rainbow in square and hex as well as what looks like every size of black and white, including bar glitter!

I love bar glitter, but sparingly! In my opinion, you just can't go hog wild with bar glitter or your nails start to look like you stuck grass to them or that they've started to grow hair. That's what's so great about this mix. The bar glitter is an accent not the main focus.

Held close to the light there's not much shine from this one so you know it's going to be a great layering glitter!

Sorry for all the bubbles. This picture was taken just after I finished mixing; it hadn't had time to settle yet.

One coat over bare nail and one coat over Wet n Wild I Need A Refresh-Mint. Can you see why I love this glitter so much?? Maybe it's just me, but I think this is the most perfect mix EVER!

This is a glitter topper that everyone needs! Don't have suspension base? That's okay. A lot of the shops on Etsy sell small sample sizes of suspension base. You can pick one up while you're there buying Rainbow Graffiti from Glitter Mix Boutique. Of course, you can also use regular store bought clear polish. It will not suspend the glitter; the glitter will sink to the bottom but turn it upside down for a few minutes before you want to use it and it'll work fine.

Spellbound Nails NEW RELEASES

Hello everyone! Another exciting post announcing the release of some new polishes to my Etsy Shop. I don't have swatches for all of them yet but scroll down to see what I have to offer. :)

First, I would like to start off with the fact that I now ship to Canada! I'm sure you know that shipping to Canada is costly but I have tried to keep it as low as I possibly can!

I am also offering 1 full size bottle or 2 mini bottles with every purchase of 5 full size bottles. If you buy 5 polishes, let me know in the 'notes to seller' section what you would like and your polish choice/choices.

With this release I have also started giving the option to buy mini bottles of my polishes!! There are listings for 1-5 mini bottles.

Candy Floss is neon pink hex glitter and neon blue bar glitter that overlap to turn this polish purple in the bottle. I've also added some color shifting iridescent glitter to give it some add glitz.

Orange You Lovely is just entrancing in person! A blend of bright orange and color shifting iridescent glitter are eye catching and enthralling.

Pittsburgh Pride is for all my sports fans out there. I originally created this as part of my gift to my mom on Mother's Day. She is a huge Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Penguins fan, and she tells me this glitter will work great for Pittsburgh Pirates fans as well.

I will also be taking requests for other team color polishes. If you have one you'd like me to mix up please send me a message through Etsy.

All of Time and Space is my tribute to the recent season finale and the upcoming 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who. This is a slightly sheer blue polish with silver holographic stars, moons, and micro-glitter. This polish looks best when layered over black or dark blue.

Fuchsia-ristic is one of two holo polishes in this release.

Grape Fizz reminds me of a grape slushie or grape soda with pink and blue bubbles fizzing inside.

Jaded for Green is the other holo polish in this release. It is a gorgeous jade green.

Sugar 'n Spice is everything nice in a bottle. It has light pink, fuchsia, and turquoise dot glitter as well as fuchsia and holographic blue micr-glitters all contained in a white base.

And last but not least is Pretty in Punk. Filled with neon pink glitter in large and small hex and lots of small black glitter to fill in the rest.

Glitter Mix Boutique: Part 3

*All products were sent to me for testing and review, completely complimentary, from Glitter Mix Boutique. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

And the review of Glitter Mix Boutique glitter mixes continues on in Part 3. This one focuses on Pink Lemonade.

You saw it in Part 1 now take a closer look below.

A mix of square and hex in pastel and hot pink, yellow, and frosty white.

I really love the mix of sizes. When mixing up my own polishes I always try to fill in the gaps the larger glitter leaves with smaller glitter. It just makes a more well rounded polish, so Pink Lemonade is perfect!! No additions needed!

What you may not know is that holding glitter close to the light will give you an idea of how it will look once you put it on your nail and add top coat!

Once added to the base in a mini Pink Lemonade is soooo hard to photograph. The pastel pink and the frosty white turn slightly transparent in base and the hot pink and yellow turn so bright! It overwhelmed my camera slightly, but it's gorgeous, right?

Even better is seeing it in use. One coat over bare nail and one coat over Sally Hansen Blew Me Away! with no top coat. I could definitely see this mixed into a jelly or maybe a crelly. Probably something light, maybe even something shimmery, that would let the colors of Pink Lemonade shine through.

As always, you can buy Glitter Mix Boutique's glitter mixes through their Etsy Shop. You can also buy their original glitters through You Mix. Or follow them on Facebook for updates.
