Rainbow Gradient

Today is supposed to be my X nail art for the ABC Challenge, but I'm stumped on what to do for this letter. I'll think of something by next challenge ... hopefully. For now, check out the rainbow gradient I wore last weekend.

I hate the claw, but it's pretty much the only position in nails that need to include the thumb. Some of you may remember the sideways rainbow gradient from my NOH8 nails. I wanted to try something different this time so I did them as a normal gradient. I found the lightest rainbow colors from my collection to use for this.

Here are my nails before clean-up. So messy!!! I usually tape around my nails before doing something this messy, but I forget. Isn't that the way things usually go? You only forget something that would speed things up when you're in a hurry!

I took this picture in the car. It was snowing so hard and then a little bit of sunlight peeked through, and I couldn't resist snapping a few pics. It's not up to my usual standard, but there's something I really like about this picture.

I couldn't resist getting a picture of my cotton ball after I removed the gradient. I'm reminded of a clown's wig, lol.

NOH8 (Contest Entry)

Hey girlies. I don't have much to share today since I completely failed a nail design yesterday. I know, I know. I'm usually a few days ahead with my nail designs but I was working on something for a nail art contest! So, that's what I'm going to share with you today. First off, I'm sorry for the zombie claw I have going on in this picture ... I had to get my thumb since it was part of the design. I promise not to bite!!

gay pride LGBT nail art contest entry NOH8 NO H8 campaign rainbow all love heart Kyoti's Nails

These nails were done for an LGBT nail art contest hosted by Kyoti's Nails. This contest runs until June 30th so you still have time if you want to enter. The rules are pretty simple. They include (check here for full rules): It has to be your own work, and you have to do your nails for this contest. The idea can be old but you have to repaint it specifically for this contest. There has to be some form of nail art used; you can't use full nail stickers or one color (rainbow ombre, for example, is acceptable). And there will be two winners!! One for 'amateur' and one for 'advanced'.

To see all the entries and vote on your favorite go to Kyoti's Facebook page: look in the photos ... there's an album just for the entries. Voting on the Facebook page will not decide the winner but will be taken into account during judging. Go check out the entries! There are so many great nail artists entered so hopefully you'll find someone worth voting for. :)

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day, my lovely followers! I had absolutely nothing planned for today as I was so excited by the China Glaze Hunger Games collection. Still, I felt I had to do something. I hardly ever let a holiday go by without giving at least a slight nod of acknowledgment.

So, I went with something very simple. This is a design that anyone can do. (Which is always great, right?) It's simply two coats of white polish on all my fingers, then I used a semi-small dotting tool for the dotted nails; you can use a different size or even a toothpick to get your dots. The rainbow nail is my shaky freehand (way too much coffee lately) but you can use the tape method to get near perfect lines. It's all very simple but gives a very eye-catching set of nails.

A hint for doing dots? Do them one line (up and down) at a time and stagger them. Every other line should match up. It's so much easier than trying to do them vertically across your nail.

What's on your nails for St. Patrick's Day? I would love to see any designs you guys have come up with. ♥
